Zanzibar Association of People with Intellectual Disabilities
ZAPDD is a nonpartisan civil society organization located in Zanzibar which is registered under the Civil Society Act No. 6 of 1995.
It was established in 1999 by parents of People with Intellectual Disabilities with a view to redressing marginalization of People with Intellectual Disabilities within the social protection system including the education system, health and other forms of maltreatments.
Currently ZAPDD has a total of 2,630 members distributed in 60 branches; 30 in Pemba and 30 in Unguja Island. Target groups are children, youths and adults with intellectual disabilities.
